Spread Out

The fish have been really spread out this week on Mustang. I think all of the pegs have produced several fish, but no one has had a really good hit. Regular Rob had four fish in just a few hours the other night from peg 12 and I know a chap in peg six had four bites all in quick succession a few days ago. So if you get on them it pays to make the most of it before they move off or stop having it.
The same old boilies are doing the trick, but lots of large 8mm + pellets mixed in with them are key to getting the fish going. The carp have also been slurping down floaters in the last week, especially in the morning and evening. The best carp caught off the top was a 22lb 8oz common. The best fish of last week went to Ian Bardell who banked a 23lb 14oz mirror from peg 3 - well done mate, top angling.

I hope you like the pic's.

Well Done Andy and James

Mustang has been on top form this week and we have had many multiple catches taken by day and session anglers.
Things were looking good for the big 40-hour BCAC UK carp cup match at the weekend and after a slow start things kicked off with 15 carp landed and six lost. The bombardment of marker floats and spods unsettled the carp for the first half of the match, but once things settled down the bites started to come. The biggest fish during the match was a 23lb 2oz common and just 1oz separated 3rd and 2nd place.

Regular Andy Knight took 1st place with 3 fish for 43lb 3oz and James Anderson finished second with 38lb 6oz with two fish. Well done to both of you for getting to the final at Brasenose in October. I wish you all the best and hope you bring the top £5000 prize home.

The fish have been spread out all week, but peg 3, 10 and 12 have fished really well. Spodding pellets with small or chopped boilies is the best tactic at the moment with a PVA bag over the top. Most of the silkweed has died off as well now so there is plenty of tasty hard clay spots in front of all the swims.

I hope you like the pic's.

Great conditions

The last few days of cool weather and falling air pressure has really switched the carp on in Mustang Lake. I have honestly lost count of how many carp have been banked but several anglers have had multiple catches in day and 24 hour sessions. On a recent tutorial I did with Simon Cover we managed four bites in a day and three cracking carp on the bank from peg 7.
Rob Riseborough, who has only really started carp fishing this year, had a great 3 hour session banking carp of 15lb, 19lb and a PB 22lb 6oz mirror. Mark Sawyer had five fish in a night including a 25lb+ common. James Anderson banked 5 or six fish and lost a couple (including a very big black common) in his 36 hour stint. Andy Knight had six takes and banked four during 12 hours to 18-19lb from peg 10 on Saturday night. Richard Brown had two to 20lb and lost one during a night on his first trip to the venue. I took a picture of Pete Luckmans first ever twenty pound common which he had yesterday evening within an hour or so of turning up. Lots of other have also done well, so sorry for not mentioning every ones name.
The fish have been really spread out and all the swims have produced. Spodding pellets and chopped boilies has been the best tactic. But don't forget your floater rod if you come over as the carp have been feeding really well on the top in the right conditions.

Just to remind every one we are shut this weekend from Friday 12pm to Sunday 12pm for the BCAC UKcarp cup qualifier match. Good luck to all 10 entering the competition, I can't wait for the match to begin.

I hope you like the pic's.
