Boilie Munchers

Another quick blog, just to let you know that the fishing is still nice and steady on Mustang, with fish coming out everyday. A good sprinkling of boilies is still doing the trick (the carp really seem to know what they are now). Nash Monster Squid and Mainline Cell are the top two baits I see fish continually munching and getting caught on.
Andy Knight had a nice brace of twenties from peg 1, but swims 3,4,6,9,11,12 and 14 have also been in great form if the right bait and anglers has gone in them. I even managed a few fish myself on Monday during a photo shoot with the Carpology boys.
The lake has not been busy this week and as I write this there are only two guys out on the water. If you fancy coming down, but want to know how many are on before you set off, then just bell the fishery number: 07706483084

Nice Brace

Mustang is fishing nice and steadily now with this warm weather. Nearly all the fish I have seen banked have fallen to boilie hookbaits fished over a good scattering of boilies. Pete Harrington used this simple approach to great affect banking a 24lb 7oz common followed by a 24lb 14oz mirror. Plenty of other fish have been banked from all over the lake using the same approach.
Nash Monster Squid and Mainline Baits are still catching most, but other good freezer baits are working as well.
I hope you like the pic's.

Spread Out

The heavy rain we had a couple of weeks ago slowed things up on Mustang for a few days, but the fish are now back on their spring feeding spell and have been coming out steadily from all over the lake.
A spread of boilies over the top of each rod is producing 80% of the bites - it is nice, simple fishing. Spodding has been less effective, but a few fish have been out from areas baited with chopped boilies, corn and carp pellets.

Nash Squid baits and Mainline Cell are working best as usual. I just photographed a 21lb mirror, which was the lads second bite in an hour on a day trip, which both fell to a cell pop-up fished over 40 freebies.

As some of the lads who have been down know, I have not been about much in the last couple of weeks, because of shows and other work. Many thanks for the pictures that some of you have sent me, I really appreciate them. I have missed a lot of photo opportunities and I know several fish have been banked that I haven't got any pictures of this time around.

Anyway, I hope you like the pic's

Spring is in the Air

The fish have woken up in Mustang over the last week. Several have been caught from all sides of the lake and yesterday I had the pleasure of photographing "Big Scaley", which weighed in at just over 30lb. It was the the guy's fourth bite in just four hours!
Six 20lb plus commons have also been landed, I even managed a couple myself, along with plenty of pretty doubles.
Nash and Mainline boilies are doing most fish. Thirty - fifty baits spread in a tight area with a bright pop-up over the top seems to be working a treat.
I hope you like the pic's.
