50lb 4oz Venue Record

A very quick blog just to say Gary Lewis has banked Spitfire Pool's big common, "The Wood", at a massive 50lb 4oz. She looked amazing on the bank and it was a pleasure to do the photo's for Gary. Well done bud, it couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

Having It

Stacks of decent of fish are coming out now the weather has improved. The BCAC match was a great weekend, I think there were 25 bites during the competition and 16 fish landed, the best was 25.7 and six were over 20lb. Well done to the three pairs who go through to the semi-final - you all fished well and deserve it.

The fish are still spread out, don't ignore the margins, but beds of decent boilies, 20-30yds out in the open water are doing the trick. Pop-ups and PVA bags are great for quick bites.

BCAC match

Just a quick post to remind everyone that Mustang Lake is hosting the British Carp Angling Championship match this weekend. The lake will be closed for the competition between 9am this Friday 18th May to 4pm Sunday 20th May. 


Good luck to all who take part in the match.

Big Commons

Mustang has produced several cracking twenty pound plus commons this week topped by a 27lb fish. A brace of mid twenty commons were landed from peg 5 and Grandmother, Sylvia Ward, took another brace of 20lb + commons (along with a mid-double mirror) on a day-trip from peg 12. Great Angling Sylvia - well done.
Simple rigs and top quality boilies are producing 90% of the action. Tight beds of baits are working well because the water temp is still quite low for the time of year.

Just to remind everyone we are shut from 9am tomorrow morning for the weekend. We will be open as normal from 9am Monday 7th May.  Hope you all have a great bank holiday.
